Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous

As you look forward, you don’t know what will happen in the next few days or months. But you can trust that God is with you.

In today’s verse from the end of Deuteronomy, Moses is speaking and telling us to have courage. The Israelites have finally reached the edge of the promised land. They are ready to enter, but they don’t know what is on the other side. Moses, who has been their leader since they left Egypt, is not going with them. They are afraid.

Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or scared of them, for the LORD your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you.

Deuteronomy 31:6

But Moses reminds them (and us) God is with them and God has always been with them. God has helped them defeat many challenges including leaving Egypt, parting the Red Sea, and destroying the Egyptian army. God will not fail them now.

From our human perspective, it’s easy to forget all God is done in the past and just focus on now. This makes us fearful. We can trust God because he is faithful. His character never changes and he is always with us.

As you walk through this year, during the good times and the bad, trust that God is with you, he will not leave you, and be strong and courageous.
