Exodus 33:14 God’s presence is with you

Exodus 33:14 God's presence is with you

When I was a child, I had a fear of being alone. I’m not sure why I was afraid but it was probably a fear of being lost or left (like when you are separated from your parents in grocery store). It wasn’t until my early 20’s I finally understood that I was never alone. God was always with me.

In today’s verse, Moses is speaking to God after the Israelites had sinned and built the golden calf. Moses went into the tabernacle and God’s presence descended and spoke with him. In Exodus 33:11, it says the Lord spoke to Moses face to face just a man speaking to a man.

As you read the entire book of Exodus, I’m always amazed at the many ways God’s presence was clearly shown (parting the Red Sea, providing daily food and water in a desert, defeating their enemies, a visible presence seen as a cloud by day and fire by night), and yet the people still doubted God.

In verses 12 and 13, Moses asks God to show he has found grace and to show “your way.” Moses is asking for God to show His will for the people of Israel. Here is God’s reply,

He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Exodus 33:14

In this verse, God says he will be with Moses and the Israelites. Jesus gave us the same promise when he said the Holy Spirit would come and dwell in us and give us peace and rest.

If you have trusted Jesus as your Savior, you are not alone, today. You can claim the power of the presence of God in your life today.
