Hebrews 11:6 Faith that Matters

Hebrews 11.6

What is faith?

Believing the impossible is fact.

For example, it’s impossible the world could ever come to exist and support life, but it does. All the details, all the processes that must work together for a planet to exist and for people to be able to live on the planet are impossible. Statistically, the chances of the world ever existing are impossible. Yet it does.

Here’s the faith part, we accept that either God brought the world into existence or the world somehow all came together by chance. Either belief requires faith.

Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Without faith we cannot please God. Christianity rests on the belief that God will forgive your sins and give you eternal life. This belief requires faith. Your faith in this belief you are pleasing God. If you don’t have faith, you cannot believe that God exists or that Jesus came to provide you redemption.

With faith, we can please God, we believe He exists and we will be rewarded for diligently seeking him. Faith is necessary to believe God created the world and sent Jesus.

But God hasn’t left us alone. As humans we can have doubts and questions. Our faith can struggle. Remember, the promise in Galatians 5:22-23, one of the fruit of the spirit is faith. As you continue to seek God, study the Bible and gain a better understanding of God’s Word your faith will grow. You will see God everywhere as you seek him in your life and you will recognize his work in all creation.

Faith grows over time. The more we seek God and want to understand God the stronger our faith will be.
