Hebrews 11:6

Hebrews 11:6

Today’s Bible verse about faith.

Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6 (WEB)

The very first step in our relationship with God is faith. We must believe in God and believe that he rewards those who seek him.

The entire chapter of Hebrews 11 is about faith. The definition of faith is found in Hebrews 11:1, the assurance of things hoped for, the proof of things not seen. The chapter continues with a list of some of the great heros in the Bible and how they had faith that pleased God. These examples are helpful to us as well.

Here are a few examples:

Noah was warned about a coming flood built an ark. At the time, building an ark seemed like foolishness, but Noah and his family believed and were saved. Sometimes God will ask us to do things that are counter to what seems “normal” but acting in faith pleases God.

Abraham showed faith by moving to a strange land not knowing where he was going and leaving his inheritance behind. Through Abraham’s faith, God gave him a greater inheritance. At times, God calls us to do the unknown, move to a new place. As we act in faith, it’s pleasing to God.

The chapter continues with the faith of Sarah, Moses, Jacob and others.

Read all entire chapter of Hebrews 11 and see how each person acted in faith and how you can apply their actions to your situation.

Consider today what step of faith is God calling you to take today and how will acting in faith be pleasing to God.

May your faith be strengthened each new step of faith you take.
