Fear can be incapacitating. It can cause us to doubt ourselves and God’s ability to handle whatever is happening in our lives.
Consider in Numbers 13, the Israelites had finally reached the boundaries to the Promised Land. The land God promised to Abraham and he delivered them out of Egypt and guided them across the desert to reach it.
But it was occupied by other people. Moses sent spies to explore and advise the people on the land. The report from the spies frightened the people because they did not trust God.
For I, Yahweh your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I will help you.’Isaiah 41:13
Maybe you have a giant to conquer in your life or a situation that seems out of control. Remember, God is always with you, holding your right hand and you have no reason to be afraid. God will help you.
If you are questioning God’s care and help in your life, take a moment and think about the last year or even the last few months. Start writing down all the circumstances and problems you worried about and asked God to help you with (big and small). You will probably be surprised how many times God intervened in your life and provided help to you.
When you are afraid, call out to God for help. He is with you, holding your your hand and helping you even when you don’t see it. He is still there with you.
