II Corinthians 5:17 – All things become new

II Corinthians 5:17 - All things are new

In yesterday’s verse, we looked at Isaiah 1:18. We saw how our sins can be forgiven and we are washed white as snow. The next step is God working in us to make all things new.

Being in Christ changes so much about our lives. Jesus makes us a new creation and all the old things (the sin, the mistakes, selfishness, and pride) are gone.

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

II Corinthians 5:17

On Saturday, my mom, my sisters and my daughter attended a church luncheon. The theme of the luncheon was all things become new. The speaker focused on how we are new creatures in Christ.

For a second, let’s think about how we are new in Christ.

Our sins are forgiven and forgotten.

We are able to overcome sin through the power of Christ living in us. We can defeat pride and bad habits that enslave us and take over our lives.

We are servants of Jesus. We can shine the light of Jesus in dark places. We can show others the miracles of how Jesus changes our lives, and he can change their lives, too.

We can have a relationship directly with God. We don’t need a priest or any intermediary, we can go directly to God.

We look forward to a future with a new body, a new heaven and a new earth.

Thank God today that he did not leave us as we were, but he started the process of regeneration in us and He will continue each day to make us new.
