Psalm 34:17 – The Lord delivers the righteous

Psalm 34:17

When you feel anxious, claim the promise of Psalm 34:17 that the Lord will deliver the righteous. If you have placed your faith and trust in Jesus, the Lord (Yahweh) will hear you and deliver you.

The first thing we notice about this verse is that if we call on God, he will answer us and deliver us.

The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

Psalm 34:17

The gods (little “g”) that man creates cannot answer us or save us. They cannot respond at all. We have a living God that hears us, answers us and saves us (in the present and the future).

What a comfort to know that no matter how big our problem or fear, God hears us and will respond. You aren’t left on your own.

Before we say God will save you as a blanket promise, remember the verse says the Lord will hear the righteous and save them from their troubles.

Many times, we find ourselves in troubling situations because we have sinned or not followed God’s plan for life. The difficulties we face are placed in our life to let us see we do need God and we need repentance.

Looking at the Old Testament, the story of the Israelites is a continuing cycle of faithfulness to God, turning from God, calling on God to save them, repentance and God delivering them. This cycle happens generation after generation.

If you haven’t been living according to God’s standards for holiness, He’s calling you to repentance. He will hear your cry and save you.

But there are times when we are living according to God’s plan and we still need help. God is waiting for us today. When we call on Him, he will answer us.

Don’t be fearful or anxious today. You have a God who can handle all your worries. He’s ready to answer you when you call on him today.
