Romans 8:11 – The power of the Holy Spirit in you
Have you ever read or heard a verse many times, but then someone reads it aloud, and it feels like a light bulb suddenly turned on, and you have a new understanding of a verse you have heard many times before?
That happened to me recently with Romans 8:11.
But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Romans 8:11
Paul says in Romans 8:11 that the Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead is the same Holy Spirit dwelling in you as a believer.
Think about what Paul is saying – the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the Spirit living in you.
In John 14:26, Jesus tells His disciples that He will ask the Father to send a Helper, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit would bring to remembrance all that Jesus taught them.
The Holy Spirit can transform lives, help us understand the teachings of the scriptures, guide us as we make daily decisions, and strengthen us during times of temptation.
It was the Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead and gives life to you, who were once dead in your sins.
As believers, are we underestimating the power of the Holy Spirit and the impact He can have in our lives?
