Jeremiah 29:11 – Perfect Plans

Jeremiah 29:11

Have you ever been hiking on a trail or following a path and noticed a short tower of rocks, then you go a little further and you see another little tower of rocks? Do you know what those rocks mean? They are like trail markers. They say you are on the right path, going in the right direction.

In today’s world, it’s easy to feel we are not going in the right direction and we are lost. But here in Jeremiah 29, God says I have a plan for you.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Jeremiah 29:11

This verse in Jeremiah was written to the Israelite captives that had been carried way by Nebuchadnezzar to Babylon (Jeremiah 29:1). The prophet Daniel would have been part of the captives taken at this time.

God sends a message to his people through the prophet Jeremiah. God begins this message by saying I’ve put you in this place and situation. Make it your home, plant gardens, get married, seek peace and continue life. This captivity will last 70 years.

Then God says, I have a plan for you. A perfect plan. When you call on me and pray, I will hear you and answer you. I will bring you back from the captivity and to the promised land once more.

Read all of Jeremiah 29 here. It’s beautiful message from God that has great importance to us today in understanding that God has not left us alone.

If today, you may find yourself on a path that is difficult and the end seems unclear. Just keep following the path God has given you (follow the markers), do what you know is right like Daniel did, and God will reveal his plan for you.

Don’t be anxious, don’t be afraid, follow God’s perfect path.
