Luke 12:22 Don’t be anxious

Luke 12:22 Don't be anxious

Three simple words, don’t be anxious. They are easy to say, but hard to make reality.

What makes you anxious? Do you stress about meeting daily needs like food, shelter and clothing or even what the future holds?

Today, Jesus tells us, “don’t be anxious” and he gives us 4 reasons we don’t need to stress today.

He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear.

Luke 12:22

It’s easy to worry about daily needs like food, clothing, shelter, money to pay bills, and on and on the list goes. But Jesus cautions us not to focus on these troubles, rather focus on the big picture.

To get the complete perspective, read Luke 12:22-28.

First, life is more than food. We focus on material needs like food and clothing. Jesus wants us to remember life is more than food, clothing and materials things.

Second, Jesus reminds us that he cares for the birds and provides water and nourishment for plants and flowers. He makes them grow. He cares for us, too.

Third, worry will not change the situation. When we worry we cause ourselves more stress, health problems like ulcers and stomach problems, we may have a short temper with family and friends, but we aren’t helping the problem.

Fourth, we are heirs to the God’s kingdom. Is there any need that exceeds the abundance of God’s riches? No. He can provide for all our needs and more.

When you start to be anxious, step back and think. What is the bigger picture in life? Recognize God knows your needs and wants to provide for you. Worry will not help. Finally, you are an heir to the king.

Don’t be anxious today. Practice trusting God for your needs big and small.
