John 15:13 The Greatest Love

John 15.13 The greatest love

This month as we look at verses on love, we ask, what is the greatest love?

Our answer is found in John 15:13, when Jesus says greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. Jesus was foreshadowing that he would give his life for us.

Jesus showed us the greatest love by giving his life that we could be forgiven. It’s also important to note that Jesus says those he gave his life for were his friends (see John 15:14).

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:13

Jesus was the only begotten Son of God, and he also lived a life that was fully human. He was both God and man. When we study the life of Jesus, we have the perfect example to follow for our lives.

We likely will not have to give our life to save a friend, but we can live our life sharing and giving to others. Striving not to be selfish with our time, talent or money. As we go through our days, we can be open to giving and sharing with others as the Spirit leads us.

Showing love and kindness to others is a great gift we can all share. Both the giver and receiver will be blessed.
